Stop me if you've heard this before...

Earlier this month, Gordie, our new PM, made a determined bid to upstage the launch of the Tories’ Quality of Life Policy Group report with that photo opportunity of himself and the iron lady at Number Ten. The picture got a lot of coverage, particularly as Baroness Thatcher was dressed in, ahem, red.

Fast forward to this week and Gordie’s big speech to the Labour faithful at Bournemouth. There he declaimed: “I stand for a Britain where because this earth is on loan to us from future generations, we must all be stewards of the environment.”
This was ever so slightly reminiscent of Mrs T’s utterances back in the early 1990s when she embraced the green high ground with her comments: “No generation has a freehold on this earth. All we have is a life tenancy – with full repairing lease.”
Spooky or what?
