Who's running the show?

Is the government having second thoughts about appointing Ed Mayo, currently chief executive of the National Consumer Council (NCC), to the same post in its successor organisation?

The great man (Disconnector, not Ed) only asks ’cos Whitehall was originally due to name the chief executive earlier this month, but that has come and gone without any sign of the now overdue decision.
The delay is not doing a lot for the morale of the organisation – nor for the staff of Energywatch, some of whom may end up with the new consumer organisation.
Until the chief executive is in place, the detailed structure of the new body cannot be sorted out. Cue lots of anxious and troubled faces as the waiting and speculation goes on.
Of course, this latest indecision comes on top of the angst generated by the decision to put back the time when the new organisation will officially come to life. At one point it was assumed the new NCC plus subsumed Energywatch would virtually be up and running by now.
At the current rate of progress, it might just be established in 12 months’ time.
