Flights of fancy

The man in the hard hat government minister Ed Balls and he is shown here getting to grips with a water-powered jet pack that will transport people at 200mph. Well, that was one of the quirky ideas that schoolchildren came up with in response to research by Yorkshire Water. Like the rest of the industry, the water company has been consulting its “customers and stakeholders” on what services it might provide over the next 25 years. Yorkshire conducted research with its customers of the future (schoolchildren) and presented the results to the minister of the crown responsible for children, schools and families. Keiran Tucker from Wetherby came up with the jet pack idea. Other novel ideas included reservoirs on roofs.
