Last week London mayor Ken Livingstone, green party London Assembly member Jenny Jones and Thames Water chief executive David Owens joined forces to promote more use of tap water in London’s restaurants and cafes. Part of the campaign involves a competition, open to all London-based designers, to create an iconic carafe that will be made from recycled glass and used across the capital. The campaign has been organised in association with international charity WaterAid. Hence the suitably emblazoned umbrella. David Owens looks like he is in imminent danger of having an eye poked out but you know this all makes sense. Tap water’s time has clearly come.
