Now here’s a sort of X Files moment. Last week, the biggest earthquake to hit the UK caused a lot of structural damage and certainly put the wind up many householders who thought they might have been inadvertently relocated to somewhere near the San Andreas Fault.
In north Norfolk, not that far from the Lincolnshire epicentre of the ’quake, residents were woken at around 1am and feared the worst. One such was Colin Finch, who lives in Cromer. He said his first concern was about the gas terminal at Bacton. “I got up and looked out the window to see if there was a big red ball in the sky above the site.
“When I realised that wasn’t what it was, I went back to bed and it wasn’t until the next morning I found out exactly what had happened.”
Of course, 48 hours later the terminal was in real trouble after an explosion and a fire. Creepy or what?
