A high point of the year
Scottish Water's Turret water treatment works has just undergone a £30 million upgrade that included a hydraulic turbine which powers the works. Surplus electricity is sold to the national grid. The facility is located outside Crieff in Perthshire and is the UK's highest waterworks. The site is over 1,000 feet up in the mountains and is permanently exposed to extreme weather conditions. Brollies are de rigeur.
