It's amazing what you can claim in expenses
Absolutely no doubt about it, the current revelations about MPs' expenses are certainly an eye-opener. Disconnector has particularly enjoyed the details of the PM's shared cleaner arrangements with his brother Andrew, head of public relations at EDF Energy.
How the great man chuckled (Disconnector, that is, not Brown) at the thousands of pounds claimed by Tory MP Oliver Letwin to repair pipework under a tennis court at his constituency home. Said Letwin: "I was served a statutory notice by the water company to repair the leaking pipe... No improvements were made to the tennis court or garden."
So that's all right, then.
Disconnector smiled, too, at Tory David Willets spending £100 on professional electricians to replace 25 light bulbs.
One of the funniest, though, was the revelation that Welsh secretary Paul Murphy claimed more than £3,000 on expenses to fit a new boiler because he believed his water was "too hot".
Should you laugh or cry?
