The Lady ain't for playing it safe
Serial director Lady Barbara Thomas Judge (around 30 and counting) was embroiled in a bit of a stand-off recently when she visited one of the UK Atomic Energy Authority's (UKAEA) sites.
Lady Judge has a history in the sector. Back in the day, she was a representative of the organisation that has since morphed into the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority.
She refused to put on a hard hat, which caused something of a diplomatic, nay safety, incident.
Lady Judge happens to be the two-days-a-week chair of the once mighty UKAEA, and its Dounreay site has just won a British Safety Council award for its health and safety standards.
Clearly, that message hadn't percolated through to the very top of the organisation.
