Consumer Council for Water urges nation to mark Crapper

The Consumer Council for Water has called for the UK to mark the 100th anniversary of Thomas Crapper next Wednesday by thinking more about the abuse they give the sewer system - and its implications.
Three quarters of sewage blockages are caused by items that shouldn't be flushed down the toilet or sink, and these blockages account for half of all sewer flooding, says the body.
If public sewers are blocked, costs to remove blockages are passed onto consumers bills.
The coucil estimates we spend an incredible three years of our lives on the toilet.
