Thames Water choses Martin Baggs as new chief executive

5 March 2010

Martin Baggs has been appointed chief executive of Thames Water. He has been interim chief executive since David Owen's resignation in December 2009. Baggs was appointed non-executive director in 2006. Sir Peter Mason, chairman of Thames' owners Kemble Water, said: "I have every confidence that Martin is the best person to continue to lead the company; making further improvements to operational performance and the service we provide to our customers." Baggs said: "Since being acquired by the Kemble consortium in 2006, there has been a remarkable turnaround in operational and financial performance at Thames Water. "We're now providing a better service than ever to our customers. But there is a lot more that we need to do, particularly in terms of efficient delivery. I'm determined to make further improvements, while also delivering our biggest ever investment programme over the next five years." Kemble Water is a consortium of pensions and investment funds led by Macquarie Bank. Related: Thames Water chief steps down
