Npower joins gas price war with 7 per cent cut![]() Npower is the latest power company to announce reductions in domestic gas prices. The company said it would cut prices for 2 million standard domestic gas customers, on average by 7 per cent. The cuts will take effect from 26 March - five days before the Eon reduction announced yesterday. Single fuel gas prices will fall by 7.8 per cent and dual pfuel gas prices by 7.1 per cent. Npower said it would also introduce a new discount of £10 per year for Dual Fuel customers who pay on receipt of bill. Kevin Miles, Npower Retail chief executive, said: "We have lowered our gas prices although our profits halved in 2009. The combined profit from supplying nearly 6.8 million accounts and operating nine power stations was equivalent to just 9p a day for each customer account." Of the big six suppliers, only Scottish Power and EDF Energy have still to announce gas price cuts. Source: Utility Week © Faversham House Group Ltd 2010. News articles may be copied or forwarded
