GE wins turbine upgrade contract for Little Barford's 100 million refit

RWE npower is to spend £100 million upgrading Little Barford power station, replacing turbines and control systems at the gas-fired plant.
GE is contracted to upgrade the turbines, which are expected to be in commercial operation by the third quarter of 2012.
Along with the new control system, the improvements are expected to boost the station's output by 20MW to 700MW while cutting carbon emissions by 40,000 tonnes per annum
