EDF Energy cuts domestic gas prices

EDF Energy has announced a 4 per cent cut in its residential gas price, leaving ScottishPower as the only one of the 'big six' energy suppliers not to announce a gas price reduction. Announcing the cut, EDF Energy claimed, " We are the only major supplier to implement two gas price reductions in the last six months. "Today's announcement follows our tariff reductions in October 2009 which meant EDF Energy's standard Dual Fuel and gas prices were the lowest among the major suppliers during the recent exceptionally cold winter, regardless of payment method." The cut takes effect from 26 March. For customers paying by direct debit, the decrease in prices will be considered in the next review after the effective date, the company said.
