Energy rebate scheme will give poor pensioners 80 electricity bill rebate

Up to 250,000 of the UK's poorest pensioners will be given a rebate of £80 on their electricity bills, the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) has announced.
The DWP is working with energy firms to provide information on those who qualify for the rebate. The pilot scheme may pave the way for further data sharing in the future.
Pensioners have to meet certain criteria - they have to be over 70 and receive the guarantee element of Pension Credit - to qualify for the rebate. Full qualifying criteria will be announced by the end of March, said the DWP.
