Government closes boiler scrappage scheme - but suppliers keep theirs open The government has closed the boiler scrappage scheme declaring it a success with all 125,000 vouchers now allocated. However, some suppliers are keeping their own discount schemes open. Npower will give a £400 discount on boilers over 10 years old; British Gas is offering a combined discount and insurance package worth about £400 while Scottish & Southern is offering double that.
