Anglian Water cuts 42 jobs![]() Anglian Water is to cut 42 field jobs as part of a drive to "modernise and increase the efficiency" of the company. About 20 of the jobs cuts are as a result of moving to "single manning" in the field - cutting teams down to one rather than two. Half of the redundancies were voluntary. In a statement, the company said: "Since January, we have been talking to staff and negotiating with our trade unions, resulting in a proposal to modernise our working practices. Under this proposal, employees moving to new working patterns will receive a payment of £5,300, while all staff will receive a 2.3% pay rise. In the current economic climate, we feel this is a generous offer." "Unfortunately, this modernisation will result in the loss of 42 jobs. Almost 50 per cent of these have been voluntary. These losses, while regrettable, will help drive down costs and improve job security for the remainder of our 3,800 employees." This follows jobs cuts in the head office last year.
