Kilometer long Thanet offshore wind 132kV connector cable laid in four hours![]() A massive connector cable for the Thanet offshore wind farm has been laid in hours using a special type of plough. Contractors Spencer ECA modified a SpiderPlow to do the job, which involved laying 250 tonnes of the cable some two metres deep across a chalk-based beach and a salt-marsh designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). With a rising tide to consider, the firm installed 1.1 kilometers of cable in under four hours. Source: Utility Week © Faversham House Group Ltd 2010. News articles may be copied or forwarded
