Domestic electricity competition arrives in Northern Ireland As of this morning, households in Northern Ireland can switch from NIE Energy to Airtricity. The Scottish and Southern Energy-owned firm promises discounts of up to 14 per cent against the incumbent, claiming cutomers can save around £95 per annum. Currently, only 6,000 customers per month can switch without contacting NIE Energy. However, the Utility Regulator and industry is working to introduce an unlimited system.
