Barhale wins Carrington power station enabling contract

The enabling works contract for the new 860 megawatt Carrington power station Manchester has been won by Barhale Construction.
The deal covers civil engineering services, earthworks and other site work to be undertaken in advance of main construction of the gas-fired plant. Neither Carrington Power (majority owned by Irish utility ESB International, with a 15 per cent stake held by Carlton Power) nor Barhale would disclose the value of the contract.
The tender for construction of the new plant should conclude at the end of this year, with building work expected to commence in summer 2011 and finish in summer 2014.
