National Grid says performance on track, won't sell US business

National Grid has said it is on track to deliver expected operational and financial performance for the current year.
The company's £3.2 billion rights issue was a success, according to chief executive Steve Holliday, despite the move prompting market speculation that National Grid could seek to sell its US business to fund dividends. Holliday added that its £3.9 billion capital investment programme remains on track.
A National Grid spokesperson said the company is not looking to offload its US operations but admitted that its New Hampshire business, which represents about 2 per cent of US operations, could be sold off.
