Central Networks urges Milton Keynes to back LNCF bid![]() Central Networks today called for local businesses and residents to back its low carbon networks bid for Milton Keynes. The firm has submitted a bid for funding of £20 million to explore how best to develop a smart grid in the city and is asking firms and householders that want to be involved to register their details at www.mksmart2020.co.uk. The DNO said it will be looking beyond its traditional suppliers to help deliver the project. "We're looking to encourage small and medium-sized enterprises as well as large players," said Jeff Douglas, head of network strategy and development. "We want to hold a representation day for businesses to show us their ideas. Milton Keynes is keen to attract smart industry to the area." Ofgem is due to announce the winning bids at the end of this year. Source: Utility Week © Faversham House Group Ltd 2010. News articles may be copied or forwarded
