Good Energy posts good results for first half![]() Independent energy supplier Good Energy has increased post-tax profits by 34 per cent for the first six months of this year. Revenue increased almost 5 per cent to £10.7 million. The firm's electricity accounts stayed flat but gas customer numbers were up 37 per cent to almost 4,000. Good Energy said it had added more electricity accounts since June but that electricity sales were down almost six per cent because customers were using less energy. The company said the repowering of its Delabole wind farm in Cornwall, taking its capacity up to 9.2 megawatts, was mainly behind the growth in revenues. Good Energy said it had signed 40 new power agreements with large solar generators before the August 1st feed-in tariff review deadline, enabling it to source up to a third of its electricity from solar power. That, it said helped balance intermittent wind. The company said while the last year was dominated by small scale solar, it expected a much larger number of small onshore wind developments and a resurgence in anaerobic digestion. "We are pleased with the continuing improvement in our results," said CEO Juliet Davenport. "We plant to continue our electricity price freeze into 2012 and expect that... the positive trends in the business will continue." Source: Utility Week © Faversham House Group Ltd 2011.
