Eon braces itself for climate protestors![]() Eon UK this week was bracing itself for a bid by climate change protesters to shut down its Kingsnorth coal-fired station in Kent. More than 1,000 activists have set up a camp near the plant, which the company wants to replace with a carbon capture ready 1,600MW version. Activists have pledged to shut down Kingsnorth tomorrow (Saturday) during a day of mass action. Police have already arrested a number of protesters. Eon UK has published an Ipsos Mori survey that the company said indicated that most people living nearby favoured a cleaner coal-fired power station at the site.
