New chief at Consumer Focus Consumer Focus has appointed a new boss to start in January. As chief executive Mike O'Connor, "will be tasked with changing the behaviour of business, government and regulators to ensure consumers are at the very heart of their thinking", according to the watchdog. Currently head of the Olympic Lottery Distributor, O'Connor has previously worked for Consumers International, and held various other governmental and voluntary sector roles. Lord Whitty, Chair of Consumer Focus, said the organisation is delighted with O'Connor's appointment and believes he will give consumers "the strongest voice in an economic climate where they are under more pressure than ever before". By Ray Cope Lets hope the new man will be a consumer champion who speaks up for consumers. He should be media focussed and become an household name.All too often we have seen Ann Robinson talking about gas matters where clearly consumer focus should have been there.No wonder the government have decided to close down this organisation. © Faversham House Group Ltd 2009.
