The New Year honours list published today included awards for four stalwarts from the utility sector who have been recognised for their contribution to the water industry, regulation, energy policy and nuclear R &D.
Willie Rickett, who has just retired as director general of energy at the Department of Energy and Climate Change has been made a Companion of the Order of Bath (CB).
So has Chris Bolt who has had spells as a water and rail regulator and was for a time in charge of regulation at Transco, now part of National Grid.
Dave Archbold, who retired as Northumbria Water's commercial manager earlier in 2009, has been awarded an MBE.
And Dr Sue Ion, formerly research director at British Nuclear Fuels and a well-known figure in the nuclear industry, has been made an OBE.
